   Activities 

  The following activities should  be printed on index cards and placed in centers or for seat work  time.

   An All-Star Collection:

   1. Draw and number four boxes.  2.  In  box one, draw a white baseball.  3.  In box four, draw a blue  bat.  4.  In box two, draw a brown baseball glove.  %.  In box three, draw a green baseball cap.

   Colorful Caps:

   1. Draw five baseball caps.  2.  Color one cap red.  3.  Color two caps blue.  4.  Color one cap green.  5.  Dolor one cap yellow..  

   Baseball Fever:

   1.  Write the letters from A to Z.  2.  Use a blue crayon to circle the letters in glove.  3.  Draw a red triangle around each letter in swing.  4.  Use a green crayon to underline the letters in bat.

   From the Mound:

   1.  Look at each code word.  2. Write the alphabet letter that comes before each letter.  For example: cbu= bat

    The five pitches Wildarm  Willie throws best are:

     Making  the Call:          

    1.  Write the first letter of slugger.  2.  Write the second letter of far.  3.  Write the first letter of fast.  4.  Write the last letter of slide.  5.  Write the word you made!.

     Goodies For the Game:

    1.  Draw and color a hot dog.  2.  Draw and color a bag of popcorn.  3.  Draw and color a bag of peanuts.  4.  Draw and color a candy bar.  5.  Draw a red circle around the snack you like best.

      Keeping Score:

      1.  Write the numbers from one to ten.  2.  Draw a yellow X on the number eight.  3.  Draw a blue circle around the number three.  Draw a red line under each even number .  5.  Draw an orange circle around your favorite number.

       Batting a Thousand:

     1.  Write the number that has a two and a four.  2.  Write the number that does not have a nine but has an eight.  3.  Write the number that has a five, but not a six.  4.  Write the number that does not have a zero or a four.

Baseball Trivia

    Have the children bring baseball cards to school for the following activity. 

    !.  Choose five baseball trading cars.  2.  Write the first and last name of each player on the lines.  ( Fix a sheet with 2 sets of  5 lines)  3.  Draw a red circle around the name of the tallest player on your list.  4.  Draw a blue circle around the shortest player on your list.  5.  Draw a green dot in front of each player that bats and throws right-handed.  6.  Write the team name of each player on the bottom 5 lines.

Play Ball

   Design a blank baseball card for each student.  On this card include:  Name,Nickname, age, phone number, birthday, favorite food, favorite hobby, winning play of the school year. Ask the students to make a card about themselves.  Use a photo if available.  If not, have them draw a picture of themselves.  Duplicate a class set for each child.   Give each child a zip bag for their cards.  You can do the following activities with these cards.

  1.  All-Star Alphabetizing:  pair up the children and have each one select a set number of cards.  They can alphabetize the cards.

  2.  Three Cheers for Classification:  Challenge students to sort and classify their cards in a variety of ways.  For example:  age, favorite food, hobby.

  3.  Grand-Slam Graphing:  Do a bar graph with the group.  You can select several questions from the cards to graph.

  4.  Preseason Hits:  Use this sequencing activity to reveal which student had the most hits during pre-season training.  Each student writes their name and the sum of their telephone numbers.  The player with the highest sum is the teams biggest   preseason hitter!

All - Star Fan Club

    Have each child make a king-size membership card for their personal fan club.  Design a paper with the following information:  Official Members of ________ Fan Club!  Let the child decorate their poster with baseball stickers and graphics.  Then the children take turns signing each child's fan club poster.

Pennant Pride

  Make blank pennant shapes.  On each pennant write these words:  ______(child's name)  Winning Plays of the Season.   Each child describes and illustrates his favorite memories of the school year.
