Mrs.
Forney's Kindergarten
Brigdton,
Maine

Hi All!
I regret that the leaves are not as colorful as they were last year.
On the trees, our foliage this year was magnificent. But, with
the extra rain, or weather change, or ???, no matter what I tried,
the colors just did not RETAIN their brilliance.
One of the things the kids did for foliage season this year was to
make little trees out of brown pipe cleaners, and then apply colored
paper for the leaves. We also lamiated extra leaves. We
used these in our November poem, with the student of the day
"throwing" the laminated leaves over their head while we sang.
We
are on the Route 302 corridor in South Western Maine. Brigdton
is about half way between Portland , on the coast and North Conway,
NH, at the White Mountains.
Our kindergarten is all day every day. We have been doing this
for our third year now, and it has been so wonderful. I see so
many benefits for the children that I hadn't anticipated. And
I was a long time advocate for all day kindergarten!
We have such beautiful seasons up here in Maine. Hope you are
having a good school year.
